George Edward Vere Monckton-Arundell (1882-1943)

George Vere Arundell Monckton-Arundell, the 8th Viscount Galway, had a very distinguished career. He served in the military during WWI and received a DSO (Distinguished Service Order) and an OBE (Order of the British Empire). He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Life Guards, a cavalry regiment for the British Army. He also received a GCMG (Order of St. Michael and St. George), a British order of Chivalry. They are usually awarded to those who have done service for the British Commonwealth. He was also a member of the Privy Council, advisors for the Monarch. From 1935-1941 he was the Governer-General of New Zealand. His wife was the Honourable Lusia White.
