George Rupert Monckton
The 12th Viscount, George Rupert Monckton, was born in British Coloumbia, Canada. On August 24, 1941 he entered the RCN (Royal Canadian Navy) as a paymaster cadet. By the spring of 1945 he was a paymaster sub-Lieutenant. He continued service in the RCN until 1967, when he was Honorably Released. By this time he held the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
During his naval service he received the following decorations: a 1939-1945 star, Atlantic Star with France and Germany Clasp, Africa Star with North Africa 1942-1943, Burma Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1939-1945, Canadian Forces' Decoration 1953, First Clasp to the the Canadian Forces' Decoration 1963.
Among the ships he served on were HMS Duke of York, HMS Emerald, HMCS Athabasken, HMCS Uganda, and HMCS Fraser.
After his naval service ended he worked as a stockbroker. He married Fiona Taylor in 1944 and they had four children. George Rupert Monckton currently resides in London, Ontario, Canada.
