William Monckton-Arundell (?-1772)

William Monckton-Arundell, the son of John Monckton, was the second Viscount Galway and Baron Killard. Like his father he was an MP for Pontefract. In 1748 he was appointed the Receiver-General of His Majesty's crown and fee-form rents in the counties of York, Durham, Northumberland, Cumberland, Westmoreland, and Lancaster. He married to Elizabeth Villa-Real and added Arundell to his name. For those interested in Canadian history it should be noted that his brother, Robert Monckton, was second in command to Wolfe during the Battle of Quebec in 1759.
